I use Microsoft ICE to make this. It is pretty easy, Mount a video camera on a tripod, take a 1 minute video while tilting and rotating the camera, then go to photosynth.net and process the video. The photosynth site is where you get ICE (Image Composite Editor) it is free and is produced by Microsoft Research.
